Saint Paul School of Theology, Office Coordinator
4370 West 109th Street, Suite 300, Overland Park, KS 66211
September/08 - Present

I currently work directly under the supervision of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean managing two offices—the Fox Hill office in Overland Park and the Church of the Resurrection office in Leawood which includes all classrooms. Responsibilities include scheduling and reserving rooms for all classes, meetings, special events and meals. I am responsible for making sure both facilities are functioning smoothly and are well supplied.

During my tenure at Saint Paul I have had the opportunity to design for all departments a variety of brochures, cards, posters and web advertisement. I am also the main customer service representative for the seminary.

Additionally I was elected as the staff representative to the Board of Trustees in 2010-2011 and have chaired the Staff Council Committee for 5 years.

Firefly Marketing , Graphic Designer
Kansas City, MO 64106
February/08 - June/08

I worked on a large variety of projects designing 4 color posters, billboards, presentation folders, postcards, multi-page guides, and even door mats. The pieces were normally designed on very tight schedules which required working on several projects at a time. I also designed several company “images” in the way of business cards, letterhead, envelopes, etc.

Hallmark Cards, Imposition Technician
Kansas City, MO 64111
November/07 - February/08

Imposition is essentially “quality control”. I worked with a team examining art files, checking color separation, logo usage, copy placement, templates, etc., then determining whether they adhere to Hallmark standards. Also, printed large 40” proofs for the same purpose.

Steadfast Publishing Company, Production Design Specialist/Project Manager—Web
Kansas City, MO 64111
January/00 - August/07

Steadfast is one of Kansas City’s leading companies in publishing financial aid materials for not only hundreds of colleges and universities, but numerous banks, guaranty agencies, and lenders. I worked on a variety of successful campaigns resulting in print runs of 500 to 1,000,000 which were then distributed nationally.

Firman Design Works, Owner
Kansas City, MO 64113
1997 - 1999

In 1998 I established a design client base which included rental properties, painters, glass artists, photographers, and musicians. Included also, a hotel, several academics, and a seminary. Logo design, websites, brochures, stationary, and newletters were designed and printed helping these clients establish an identity in their business communities.

Olympus Press, Inc, Prepress/Bindery
Seattle, WA
1991 - 1997

Working at a printing press lead me to have a valuable understanding of the “back-end” of the design process. I believe every designer should have an understanding of the capabilities of the press and bindery. Whether I was running a folder, a cutter or a stitcher-trimmer, I became aware of what problems can arise at the end of the production and consequently how to avoid these costly delays by designing it right the first time.
